The Vauxhall GTC is not only a great looking coupe with impressive performance but it's also practical and roomy too. Also, the car's unique body styling makes it stand out from the crowd.
There's a choice of petrol and diesel engines for the Vauxhall GTC which deliver a nice balance between power and economy. For instance, the 1.6 litre diesel unit produces 107 bhp and will return an impressive 72 mpg with emissions of 104g/km - and still offer decent levels of performance. There's also a 1.6 litre petrol unit available which produces a useful 194 bhp and this returns 42 mpg with emissions of 156g/km; the engine will reach 62 mph in less than eight seconds. Vauxhall also supply the excellent 2.0 litre CDTi SRi which produces 161 bhp and which delivers exceptional levels of performance, good fuel economy as well as offering value for money.
While the Vauxhall GTC is based on the excellent five door Astra hatchback, this is a very different car. It has its own body styling and its chassis has been tweaked to deliver sporty levels of performance - while this means it is a stiffer set-up than is found in the Astra it is not, unlike some of its rivals, an uncomfortable ride by any means. In a competitive field, the GTC still has a lot to recommend it for its strong levels of performance and handling.
Indeed, out on the road, the GTC is a willing performer with impressive driving dynamics and there's plenty of grip too. In addition, it's also a practical choice since there's lots of space on board, particularly for rear seat passengers. With three trim levels there is something to suit everyone looking for a car like this but the level of standard equipment on the Vauxhall GTC really does impress with items including air conditioning, alloy wheels and DAB radio.
Vauxhall has also added the option of its adaptive chassis system, it's called FlexRide, which enables the driver to select a mode for their circumstances and their driving style and in sport mode the suspension is stiffened up and the steering sharpened.
Essentially, the Vauxhall GTC is an impressive all-rounder with a lot to offer drivers and it's a cut above most of its competition; for the money the GTC offers great value and a rewarding and fun experience.
