Overview of the Vauxhall Crossland X

ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE VAUXHALL CROSSLAND-X

The Vauxhall Crossland X comes with a choice of all aluminium petrol and diesel engines that deliver decent fuel economy figures. The entry level engine is the firm's 1.2 litre petrol unit producing 81 PS which should return 54 mpg with emissions of 116g/km; there's also a useful turbocharged version of this engine which produces 130 PS and will sprint to 128 mph. The engines for the Crossland X include the firm’s excellent Ecotec engine with economy of 60 mpg possible and emissions of 109g/km. The engines include a choice of two turbocharged diesel units including a 1.6 litre unit producing 99 PS which, in the Ecotec guise, should return 79 mpg while the more powerful version producing 120 PS will return 71 mpg.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING

The Vauxhall Crossland X is a strong bid from the carmaker for the booming SUV segment and the firm says this is a crossover that's practical for urban areas. Indeed, it has a bold design and there's a lot of comfort and flexibility on board including sliding rear seats.

There's also a comprehensive infotainment system accessed via the 8-inch colour touchscreen and a range of driver assistance systems as well including advanced park assist, a 180° panoramic rear view camera, forward collision alert with pedestrian detection and also autonomous emergency braking. The systems also include traffic sign recognition and a blind spot alert. The Crossland X also has Vauxhall's OnStar assistance system and the IntelliLink infotainment system which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There's a lot to like about the Crossland X from the driver’s elevated seating position which gives a good view of the road ahead, and with a spacious interior it's a practical and comfortable place to spend time in.

Indeed, it's a comfortable car to drive round town and this model is slightly shorter than the excellent Mokka X to make navigating streets easier. The floating roof design also helps to create a nice environment for those on board.

Essentially, the Vauxhall Crossland X is up against some stiff competition but there's a lot to recommend this SUV which offers nice levels of handling and comfort wrapped up with practical ideas in a value for money package.
