Leasing a Toyota Aygo
Engines and performance for the Toyota Aygo
There's just one engine available for the Toyota Aygo and it's a punchy 1.0 litre petrol choice producing 71bhp. It will return between 51 and 57 mpg with emissions of 95g/km. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual box or a five-speed 'x-shift' automatic choice.
Equipment and handling
The Toyota Aygo has standout styling and lots of space in what is an overall impressive city car. Because of its size, the Aygo is agile to drive around town and a smooth performer on motorways. The seats are comfortable with the entry-level model offering a good proposition. This is a city car that has a suspension system that deals with bumpy roads and it is a quiet cabin when being driven at speed. It's not only a comfortable and fun car to drive around town, the new model is better over long distances than the previous Aygo and potential owners may be interested in the personalisation options such as the firm's 'fun roof' which is a canvas top with power operation so the Aygo quickly turns into a convertible. This is only available on some models and satnav can be added to the infotainment system along with bright metallic paint finishes. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, hill start assist and electronic stability control. The interior has also been well-designed and despite being sparse, it's better than the previous model. There are some cheaper plastics that have been used to boost the hard-wearing qualities of the cabin and there's a good infotainment system. Other standard equipment includes LED running lights, a USB port with other models offering air con, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a reversing camera. Some models also feature smartphone connectivity, heated door mirrors and a height adjustable steering wheel. The top trims feature part-leather seats, alloy wheels, keyless entry and two exterior colour choices. They also have Toyota's 'safety sense' technology which features a version of autonomous emergency braking and lane departure alert, though this pack can be ordered as an option too. Essentially, the Toyota Aygo is a well-designed city car designed to be an agile and useful vehicle for everyday use and it's an easy and practical car to live with. It has similar underpinnings to the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108 though the Aygo delivers better handling, particularly when cornering.
