The SsangYong Tivoli is a stylish car with lots of equipment. There's also plenty of space to help boost its appeal and it's been priced to sell.
There are two engines to choose from, both are 1.6 litres in size are consist of a diesel and a petrol option. The SsangYong Tivoli’s diesel engine offers punch and economy and is available with the optional 4x4 system to help deliver an impressive off-road vehicle. The petrol engine produces 128 bhp and offers good performance in the mid-rev range.
The diesel unit produces 113 bhp and though this sounds like it's underpowered it offers enough power for everyday use and is probably the best choice; it is a nice performer when cruising at speed, for instance. The diesel engine will return 66 mpg while the petrol unit returns 44 mpg with emissions of 149g/km. These economy figures are for the manual gearbox and they drop slightly for the automatic transmission.
There are high hopes that the SsangYong Tivoli will be the breakthrough vehicle for the manufacturer and they've created a stylish vehicle with lots of equipment and decent handling to do it. SsangYong have built an all-new platform for an SUV that has a solid feel and nice handling. The platform also lends itself to a stable and comfortable ride, it's good fun on country roads and a decent performer on motorways at speed. The steering is light and accurate.
To help boost its appeal, the Tivoli is packed with lots of standard equipment including cruise control, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and 16-inch alloy wheels. Other models come with larger alloys, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual zone climate control and heated leather seats. Despite the exterior dimensions, there's plenty of space on board for adult passengers.
Essentially, the SsangYong Tivoli is a great car that offers an interesting alternative to the mainstream choices and for those who are looking for lots of equipment, decent handling and lots of space in the cabin then the Tivoli is for you.
