ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE SMART EQ FORTWO COUPE

The latest version of the contract hire Smart EQ ForTwo Coupe is an interesting offering with an electric motor producing 82 hp with the power being delivered to the rear wheels via a single-speed gearbox. The battery has a range of around 81 miles and the maximum speed is limited electronically to 81 mph.

That range and performance are well-suited to city drivers and the battery can be recharged to 80% of its capacity in just 40 minutes using a rapid charger. For those using a home wall box, the recharge time is under six hours. The running costs are low - especially if you sign up for a cheap electricity deal.

The EQ ForTwo Coupe is a sprightly car and since the torque is available from a standing start, acceleration is rapid, and it will reach 40 mph in under five seconds.

There's also regenerative braking on board to help boost battery range and the latest version is more spacious and better equipped than its predecessor.
