ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE SMART FORFOUR EQ

The Smart ForFour EQ car lease offers a range of 78 miles which will meet most commuting and everyday needs for those who live in towns and cities. The ForFour EQ uses regenerative braking technology to boost the range by topping up the battery.

The 80 bhp electric motor is powered by a 17.6kW battery and the overall impression is of a smooth and refined delivery of power.

The 0 to 62 mph time is a leisurely 12 seconds but it's much quicker from a standing start to 30mph - that's down to the torque of 160Nm being available instantly. Drivers can expect to reach 40mph in five seconds. The top speed is 81 mph and while the ForFour EQ is a nice car to drive at speed, the range will be affected.

There's an onboard 22kW charger fitted as standard which will recharge the battery to 80% of its capacity in just 40 minutes.
