Engines and performance for the Seat Arona

There's a good choice of engines for the Seat Arona with a responsive 1.0 litre TSI unit producing either 95hp or 115hp. It's mated to either a manual gearbox or a slick automatic transmission and should return around 49 mpg. There's also a frugal 1.6 litre TDI unit producing 95hp which is a sound performer on long journeys and will return around 60 mpg. Seat also offers a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 148 bhp that is worth considering for those who want to enjoy better levels of performance.

Equipment and handling

Along with its stylish and sporty exterior, the Seat Arona delivers a practical and small SUV for drivers. There's a lot of equipment onboard and the petrol engines are particularly impressive. There's also a decent amount of space and handling is assured; it's a good and agile performer around town and delivers a cosseted ride on country roads. The Arona was one of the first to have a digital cockpit in its segment and that's still the case with a useful 10.25-inch touchscreen display, which is easy-to-use and accessing the satnav is easy. Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment and it has smartphone connectivity. The Arona also features cruise control, air conditioning, rear parking sensors and alloy wheels as standard kit. It's also a safe car to drive with a five star rating from Euro Ncap and the standard safety kit includes a driver fatigue warning and autonomous emergency braking. The cabin has also been well designed with hardwearing materials to help make it a practical choice, particularly for families. For the money, the Arona is a particularly good offering in the lower specifications such as the SE and FR trims. Essentially, there's a lot to like about the Seat Arona which has lots of equipment and comfort but it's also an agile car which helps to make it one of the better small SUV offerings available today.
