The 508 is a saloon that offers a comfortable ride and cabin. Indeed, it's quality interior will impress.
As usual with Peugeot, there's a good line-up of engines for the 508. The Hybrid4 is the most economical and will return around 79mpg and has CO2 emissions of just 95g/km. There's also a very useful 1.6 litre e-HDI diesel unit which will return around 64mpg with CO2 emissions of just 95g/km. Both this and the hybrid version come with an automatic gearbox and the economy figures are lower for the manual version.
Stepping into the fiercely fought family car sector comes the 508 which has a lot going for it including an incredible level of cabin quality and handling abilities. The 508 is also a very comfortable drive and has been designed to stand out from the crowd and it is certainly not out of its depth when compared with its rivals. Unusually for a car like this, the suspension has a rather stiff arrangement but Peugeot has managed to create a very comfortable ride with bumps and potholes being dealt with adequately. In addition, the car is also a very quiet one because of the levels of insulation, including a soundproofed windscreen, which effectively eliminate road and wind noise.
The spec level of equipment on the 508 is quite impressive, though it is rather sparse on entry models, and includes air con, electric windows and daytime running lights. Other models also get alloy wheels, cruise control and satnav. Top of the range 508 models also get heated seats, keyless start and rear parking sensors; opt for the GT and owners will find a head-up display, where the car’s vital information is displayed onto the windscreen, sports suspension and xenon lights. The 508 is also a very long car so that means there’s plenty of room for adults to be taken comfortably on long journeys. To underline the space available, the boot measures 473litres in size. Essentially, the Peugeot 508 is a stylish family saloon that offers a comfortable ride and a rewarding drive.
