Engines and performance for the Nissan 370Z
The fun for the Nissan 370Z begins with the 3.7 litre V6 petrol engine producing 328 PS which delivers the power to the rear wheels. The engine is mated to either a seven-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual box - both are great smooth changing performers. It helps that Nissan added a new high-performance clutch for the manual box to reduce pedal effort and improve precision and comfort. The 370Z will complete the 0 to 62 mph sprint in just over five seconds with economy of around 30 mpg.
Equipment and handling
The Nissan 370Z was refreshed for 2019 and the entry-level model offers alloy wheels, climate control, automatic headlight levelling and an audio system. There's also the 370Z GT which delivers more equipment and comfort, including larger alloy wheels with a top end sound system, along with satnav and leather seats. The model also comes with cruise control and a speed limiter - all models are restricted to 155mph - and in the manual gearbox there is hill start assist. The flagship offering is the 'race bred' 370Z Nismo which costs a lot more and the engine has been tweaked to produce 344 PS with torque of 371Nm. The model features Recaro sports seats, aerodynamic body kit and a rear spoiler. Undoubtedly, the Nissan 370Z offers old school thrills behind the wheel with lots of power being delivered to the rear wheels and it is a nimble performer around town. Body roll is controlled on winding country roads and it is a sound choice to enjoy on track days where the engine can be put through its paces to deliver a thrilling experience. The cabin is surprisingly quiet and there's little road noise cutting through and Nissan has softened the rear suspension in the latest version so it delivers a more comfortable ride around town. Essentially, the Nissan 370Z offers great fun and there's a lot of car for the money to enjoy.
