Overview of the Mazda CX-60

The first thing to say about the equipment and handling for the Mazda CX-60 range is how involved the drive is. This is a genuinely rewarding car to drive, it is an almost serene driving experience; comfortable around town and it’s a very good motorway cruiser. Mazda is obviously pitching its offering against premium marques.

Why choose a Mazda CX-60?

The power for the Mazda CX-60 car lease range comes from an impressive 2.5-litre petrol engine with four cylinders, plus the plug-in hybrid system with its electric motor. The overall output is a useful 323 hp. Mazda promises more petrol and diesel engines will join the line-up with the plug-in hybrid offering an electric range of 39 miles means it’s a practical and useful car for the commute or school run.

Indeed, it is likely to prove popular with business users who are looking at premium PHEV SUV rivals and with a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of 5.8 seconds, it’s also a great alternative to many hot hatchbacks too. Its top speed is 124 mph, and the torque is 500 Nm.

The power output makes this the most potent Mazda available, and the electric motor means it’s also cheap to run. As result, the official economy figure for the CX-60 is 188 mpg, with emissions of 33g/km. That results in a low Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax band for a company driver.

Mazda CX-60 in a nutshell

The CX-60 is slightly longer and larger than the popular CX-5 and has been built on an all-new platform that delivers a more stable stance for better grip and performance. The plug-in hybrid offers all-wheel drive and an automatic eight-speed transmission. There are three trim levels to choose from and lots of kit to enjoy.

What to expect when you lease a Mazda CX-60

The entry level version is the Exclusive-Line, which offers 18-inch alloys, a 12.3-inch infotainment display and LED headlights. There are also heated front seats, a head-up display, rear and front parking sensors, a reversing camera, plus there’s dual-zone climate control.

The next model up is the Homura with larger alloys, heated outer rear seats, ambient lighting, a gloss-black finish and electrically adjustable front seats. There’s also a 12-speaker Bose system.

The top model is the Takumi which adds cloth details to the dashboard, a gloss-black front grille, body-coloured wing mirrors and a white-Maplewood finish for the console. Mazda also offers several optional packs that adds items such as a panoramic sunroof and additional driving aids.

We also liked the face recognition system that recognises the driver and will reposition the steering wheel and seat to suit them. There’s no need to press buttons to reset everything for you. The boot size is 570 litres in size, or 1,726 litres with the rear seats folded flat. That makes it a practical choice and the cabin has been well-designed, with good use of premium materials.

This is also a very safe car, which makes it an ideal choice for families, with safety kit including autonomous emergency braking, speed limit assist, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assistance and traffic sign recognition. There’s also an emergency calling system to call emergency services should the vehicle be involved in an accident.

Essentially, the Mazda CX-60 car lease range is an impressive and striking offering that makes an interesting alternative to premium marques with lots more equipment and great handling - and for business users particularly, it certainly needs to be given a test drive.
