Engines and performance for the Mazda CX5
Under the bonnet of the Mazda CX-5 is the choice of two engines. There's a 2.0 litre petrol unit producing 165 PS or a 2.2 litre diesel offering producing on 150 PS. Both are excellent choices and they are mated to either a six-speed manual box or six-speed automatic transmission. The fuel consumption for the petrol unit is around 37 mpg and for the diesel, the figure is 45 mpg.

The CX-5 is nimble to drive around town and it's a comfortable cruiser on long journeys. The suspension delivers good performance on country roads. Essentially, the Mazda CX-5 is a well-designed and well-built offering and it's the firm's bestselling car in the UK and accounts for one in four of its sales around the world - that's because there's a lot to like in a great package and it's worth considering for those who want an impressive SUV that is great to drive.
