The Q50 is an executive saloon that will impress with lots of space and equipment. There's also lots of leg room for rear seat passengers and it's an all-round quality product.
There's a choice of two engines on offer; a very good 2.2 litre diesel engine which should return a 64mpg while having CO2 emissions of 114g/km. There's also a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol unit which will return 43 mpg with emissions of 151g/km. Both engines are strong performers though the diesel has the edge and will go from 0 to 62 mph in just over seven seconds. There's also a 3.5 litre hybrid petrol engine which returns 46mpg and has emissions of 144g/km with a startling performance to boot – it will go from 0 to 62mph in 5.1 seconds.
In performance terms, this is a well-engineered and well-designed car that has an excellent suspension that deals with potholes and rough roads with ease and the steering is true and offers good feedback. There's lots of standard kit on board the Infiniti Q50 including safety features such as lane keep assist and a system that prevents the car from getting too close to the vehicle in front. It also comes with a rearview camera, parking sensors, air con and two touchscreens. Other entry level kit includes cruise control, rain sensing wipers, hill start assist and six airbags. Other models also come with full leather upholstery, aluminium pedals, LED headlights and 19inch alloy wheels.
For anyone looking for a smart and powerful executive car but wanting to stand out from the crowd, the Infiniti Q50 would make for an ideal choice. The car offers a touch of quality as well as exclusivity for the same price as its rivals. Not only is the Infiniti Q50 well-equipped, but there's also plenty of space on board and it's comfortable to drive on long journeys.
