Engines and performance for the Honda Jazz

The Honda Jazz was revamped in 2018 and has the choice of either a 1.3 litre i-Vtec petrol engine or a 1.5 litre alternative. The engines are mated to either a six-speed manual box or the firm's automatic seven-speed CVT transmission. The 1.3 litre petrol unit will return around 55 mpg, while the larger 1.5 litre petrol engine produces 130 HP for much better performance and will return around 48 mpg.

Equipment and handling

The new model is slightly longer than the one it replaced to make the Honda Jazz a spacious supermini. It's also a well-priced offering with a decent list of safety features and equipment. Among the safety items is a high beam support system and dusk sensing automatic lights as well as rain sensing wipers and forward collision warning. There's also an advanced driver assistance system installed and it features lane departure warning and a city brake active system. While the Honda Jazz is a supermini, there is plenty of space on board, particularly in the rear seats for adults. It's a small family car that packs a lot in with the new cabin design delivering some good ideas and premium materials. Apart from the entry level Jazz, the car gets a nice 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system with the option of satnav. Around town, the Honda Jazz is a comfortable car to drive with a nice suspension setup and it's no slouch on motorway journeys either. Essentially, the Honda Jazz has established itself as a successful small car and there's a lot to like - it does everything drivers are looking for and does it well.
