The Ford Mondeo Vignale was the firm's first foray into delivering an upmarket and better-equipped car with the Vignale flag. Not only is this a Mondeo that is great to look at with lots of space, it's also great fun to drive.

Engines and performance for the Ford Mondeo Vignale

The Ford Mondeo Vignale offers powerful engines including a 2.0 litre EcoBoost petrol unit producing 240 PS which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This car is excellent to drive around town and it is a peerless performer on long motorway journeys. There's also a 2.0 litre TDCi unit producing 180 PS with automatic and manual gearbox options. The fastest offering is the 2.0 litre bi-turbo TDCi unit producing 210 PS with torque of 450 Nm for fuel-efficient and effortless cruising. There's also a new petrol-electric hybrid choice.

Equipment and handling

The Ford Mondeo Vignale is available as a hatchback or saloon and along with the plush interior, the experience also extends to better levels of customer service with a specialist network of dealers. The vehicle offers sophisticated driver assistance technologies to help deliver a stress-free driving experience. There's a collision assist system with pedestrian detection, active parking assist so drivers can park into a perpendicular parking space hands-free and also reverse hands-free too. There's traffic sign recognition and active city stop to mitigate or avoid a potential collision. The Vignale also has dynamic LED headlights that will adjust to match the driving environment. There's also an excellent sound and navigation system on-board the Mondeo Vignale and it features the firm's first inflatable rear seat belts that will rapidly expand to mitigate an accident. The interior is certainly plush and it's been well-designed with very comfortable leather seats and it's a quiet place to spend time, particularly on long motorway journeys with an active noise cancellation audio system working effectively. Behind the wheel, the Mondeo Vignale delivers a rewarding drive with good feedback from the steering and when put through its paces there's little in the way of body roll and the engines deliver power and performance to make it an enjoyable driving experience. Essentially, the Ford Mondeo Vignale is an excellent upmarket offering with a well-designed interior, excellent driving abilities and there's a lot to recommend it in a competitive segment.
