The Ford Edge Vignale is the firm's upmarket version of its impressive SUV to attract those buyers wanting more equipment, specifically luxury equipment. The Edge is Ford's biggest SUV and it's a comfortable car to live with and the extra touches (and the enhanced customer experience when you deal with a Ford dealership) are worth the premium for potential drivers.

Engines and performance for the Ford Edge Vignale

The Ford Edge Vignale offers a 2.0 litre TDCi bi-turbo diesel unit producing 238bhp. It's a good performer around town and for those undertaking long motorway journeys or need access to more speed. The fuel consumption is around 40 mpg and the six-speed automatic 'Powershift' gearbox is a smooth performer, particularly in busy traffic.

Equipment and handling

The Ford Edge Vignale offers more than the standard version, which is already well-equipped, so what will buyers get for their money? Essentially, the Vignale is a lifestyle brand so there are special items to buy, for example, holdalls, and access to a concierge service who can make you a restaurant reservation if necessary. The cabin also has a more upmarket feel and the exterior features special body colours. It's also a quiet place to spend time thanks to the noise cancelling technology and it features the firm's latest version of the Sync3 infotainment system which enables 'pinch and swipe' gestures. Leather dominates the cabin and it has a different ambience to its sibling. Drivers also get to enjoy an adaptive front lighting system so the headlights will alter intensity and angle to match the driving environment. Another standard feature is the firm's intelligent all-wheel-drive system so the car always feels well-planted on the road. There's a camera system that 'can see around corners' called 'front wide view camera' traffic sign recognition, driver alert and lane keeping aid.  Options include adaptive cruise control and active park assist, which many drivers may find useful. The Ford Edge Vignale is aimed at those who like the Edge but with more equipment and luxurious touches -  and with growing numbers of people switching to SUV's, it will meet most needs in a very nice package.
