The Fiat Qubo is a practical choice for families looking for an MPV that is practical and cheap to run. It might look unusual but it's a sound vehicle that offers value for money.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE FIAT QUBO
The entry-level model for the Fiat Qubo is powered by a 1.4 litre petrol unit producing 77bhp and it is a good performer around town. Other models have the choice of a 1.3 litre MultiJet turbodiesel unit producing 80bhp or 95bhp. All of the engines are mated to a manual box or, for the diesel's, the firm’s automatic transmission.
EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING
In many ways, the Fiat Qubo is a versatile family car that has a practical and well-designed interior that is made with robust materials so will be hard wearing. A 2016 face lift saw some styling tweaks to the exterior and a completely refreshed interior.
Fiat also introduced three new trim levels with more features including a Uconnect touchscreen audio system with the option of satnav and some buyers may opt for the Trekking version which offers all-weather traction without the need for a full 4x4 system. The revamp also introduced a new steering wheel and instruments as well as new seat upholstery and infotainment options. Safety equipment includes electronic stability control, hill holding assist, air bags and ABS.
It may not be the most attractive people carrier around, but the Qubo does have a funky style and with its footprint no larger than a supermini’s, it's a small and versatile vehicle to own and drive. For instance, there's a large tailgate which enables easy access to the boot and 16 different seating configurations along with sliding side doors which makes it sound choice for those tight parking spaces.
Essentially, while the Fiat Qubo looks like a small van with windows, it is a practical MPV that is easy to drive, cheap to run and practical too; for families looking for space and value it’s an ideal choice. And, despite its origins as a van, the Qubo has a supple ride and agility around town; it's also comfortable over long distances which the design making it a practical choice for everyday use.
