The Fiat 500L is a mini MPV which offer style and practicality. It's also a safe car too with low running costs.
Like the Fiat 500, this car is also nippy and impressive when driven around town and is powered by a range of responsive engines. The pick of them would be the MultiAir which is responsive though many like the appeal of the 900cc TwinAir, which is a two-cylinder economical petrol engine - it returns 58mpg - and there's also 1.4 litre turbo to choose from which returns 46mpg. The 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel is also an excellent choice and should return around 67mpg. All of the engines are responsive and fun to drive.
First things first, the 500L is not a small city car – it is a mini MPV. As such, it is longer, wider and taller than its sibling and the Fiat Panda. So why bother making a car that is slightly larger than the Fiat 500 and retain the same interior? According to the marketing people, the 500L is the car that those who own the 500 will grow into. That means that young women owners will move up to this when they become young mums, for instance. Unlike the Fiat 500, the 500L has a lot more space inside so no-one feels cramped and it all feels roomy and airy thanks to the big side windows and a panoramic roof. The ride itself is smooth, the suspension is excellent, even on rough roads though big potholes may surprise. The seats are also extremely comfortable and the rear bench seat can be moved forwards and backwards depending on its need and the boot space is ample at 400 litres. The 500L is a practical car with a raft of excellent safety features including the option of an automatic braking system which will stop the car if it detects an imminent crash.
