DS DS 9 in a nutshell
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE DS DS9
The DS DS9 car lease range is available with either a 1.6-litre PureTech petrol engine producing 222 bhp, or a plug-in hybrid with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit producing 178 bhp. The hybrid has an 11.9kWh battery with an electric motor producing 108 bhp to produce a combined 222 bhp.
The sprint times for both DS9 models are fairly similar at around eight seconds, and they use an eight-speed automatic transmission with smooth gear changes to deliver the power.
There's a more powerful plug-in hybrid with a promised 355 bhp of power set to join the line-up. DS says it will have four-wheel drive to help deliver the grip to boost performance.
Fuel consumption for the petrol engine is 41 mpg with emissions of 155g/km. The plug-in model offers fuel economy of 257 mpg with emissions of 33g/km to make this an interesting company car choice with low benefit-in-kind (BiK) tax rates.
The hybrid offers an all-electric range of 34 miles, and it will take one hour and 45 minutes to recharge the battery.
EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING
The contract hire DS DS9 offers great handling and lots of refinement because it is taking on premium rivals.
It's a sizeable car with lots of space and it makes for a great executive car choice.
The interior impresses and there are different interior choices to select with a variation on the theme materials being used. It's an effective way to create a bespoke executive creation.
Standard features include 19-inch alloys, Activision LED headlights, black Alcantara upholstery and a 12.3-inch digital dashboard. There's also a 12.0-inch infotainment display that is easy-to-use with crisp graphics.
DS has also added electric heated front seats, a sports steering wheel, keyless entry, a reversing camera and all-round parking sensors.
The better spec versions offer more luxury such as a black leather trim, front ventilated and heated massage seats, a 360° around-view monitoring system and dual-zone climate control.
This car is also packed with safety equipment including the firm's 'Drive Assist' feature and driver monitoring.
The Drive Assist incorporates level 2 semi-autonomous driving with steering assistance and adaptive cruise control. The DS9 hasn't been crash tested by Euro NCAP yet but there's plenty of safety equipment onboard so it should score very well when it does.
Options include the firm’s 'Nightvision' to see the road ahead at night for potential obstructions and pedestrians, and there's automatic parking assistance too.
The smooth ride sees the suspension being adjusted automatically by a camera that scans the road for potential of bumps and adjusts itself accordingly to boost comfort levels. This means the car is a great motorway cruiser, and the refined steering setup means it's comfortable over long journeys.
