Engines and performance for the DS 7

There is a choice of engines including an excellent plug-in hybrid delivering up to 30 miles of electric range thanks to the petrol engine and battery delivering 300 hp. For those who undertake lots of motorway miles, the diesel engine producing 180 hp is a responsive and cheap engine to run and the petrol engines include a unit producing 225 hp to deliver more driving thrills. The engines are mated to either a manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Equipment and handling

The DS 7 Crossback is the first new offering from the Citroen spin-off and it's a premium vehicle. The chassis deals with winding roads and delivers lots of comfort to help make it a relaxing car to drive. The interior has polish and interesting design ideas, so it's a nice place to spend time. The standard equipment includes a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with clear graphics and when the satnav is added, it delivers clear directions. There's also a 12.3-inch digital instrument binnacle. The driver's view is excellent from its raised position with a height-adjustable seat and there's lots of room in the rear seat passengers. In some models, the rear seats are electrically reclining to deliver a luxurious touch and the boot is bigger than most of its rivals. As a crossover, the DS 7 is easy to navigate around town with the suspension dealing with bumpy roads effectively and there's the option for a windscreen camera to monitor the road ahead, and this can be added to a night vision system. There's a lot to like about the DS 7 Crossback - it does a lot of things very well in a competitive segment and it certainly does enough to stand out and offer something a little bit different.
