To help deliver the supercar performance, the Audi RS7 features a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine to produce 592hp and torque of 800Nm. The sprint time for the Sportback is 3.6 seconds from 0 to 62 mph. The top speed has been electronically limited to 155 mph. There's also mild-hybrid technology on board to help with economy, which is around 22mpg.

Equipment and handling

The Audi RS7 is a luxurious coupe offering with lots of comfort and excellent handling. The power from the engine is delivered using all-wheel-drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox has a good mix of ratios to deliver smooth performance and the cabin itself is very quiet when the car is accelerating hard. The all-wheel-steering, fitted as standard, has been adapted to boost low speed manoeuvrability along with high-speed stability. There is a flat-bottom sports steering wheel and interior is not only well-designed but high-quality materials are used throughout with a spattering of RS badges to remind the driver and passengers that the RS7 is a flagship offering from Audi. The virtual cockpit is excellent and entry level models come with LED headlights featuring laser technology and 21 inch alloy wheels and very comfortable leather sports seats. Other models come with larger alloys with a different exterior trim and they all feature two touchscreen displays. The screens display information including torque and power output, lap times, G-forces, tyre pressures and boost pressure. The top model is the Vorsprung which offers dynamic ride suspension, a top speed of 174 mph plus a panoramic glass sunroof. This four-door coupe has four seats with lots of space for all the passengers and the boot measures a useful 535 litres - with the rear seats folded flat, this extends to 1,390 litres. Standard safety features include a rear view camera, lane departure warning and camera-based traffic sign recognition. Other standard features include power door closure, heated seats and a panoramic glass sunroof. There's also a configurable head-up display to boost driver convenience and there are various packs available to equip the RS7 with just about every driving aid available. Essentially, the Audi RS7 delivers superlative performance and rewarding driving experience in a hard-to-beat package for those wanting a stylish and fast coupe.
