It hits our showrooms in April and is priced to take on the models which dominate the sector – Vauxhall says its new Cascada will be £8,000 cheaper than its rivals.

For that, buyers can choose between two trims – the SE and Elite though they both come with decent levels of kit.
There’s also the firm’s new 1.6 SIDI Turbo ECOTEC petrol engine available in the line-up.
It’s an interesting drop-top ambition from Vauxhall to join the full-size roofless market – they obviously have Audi’s A5 Cabriolet as a target and they will take potential buyers away from them.
So with four seats and two doors what can buyers expect from the Cascada?
At the bottom end is the 1.4litre 134bhp turbo petrol engine with a six speed manual gearbox.
Go up to the top spec Elite models and the price rises to £26,095.
Opt for the 2litre Bi-Turbo CDTi diesel and you’ll be shelling out £29,080 for the privilege.
All Cascada models have Vauxhall’s hiPerStrut front suspension which helps control torque steer and there are some interesting finance deals on offer plus Vauxhall’s ‘Lifetime Warranty’ which (apparently) covers the life of the car.
Buyers can order it now with prices starting at £23,995. However, potential buyers should perhaps look at the leasing options since topless cars suffer incredible depreciation in the first few years of ownership.
The UK is still one of the biggest markets for soft tops – which is barmy considering some of the summers we have had in recent years but buyers and fans will not be deterred.
