Did your favourite cartoon character drive a car? Most of mine did but to be honest I had forgotten how cool those vehicles were until I started looking up some of them recently.
Here are some of the best ones you might have forgotten about too…
Phooeymobile – Hong Kong Phooey
You really wanted one of these, didn’t you? I couldn’t find a lot of details about this car online but I think I am right in saying that it frequently transformed into other types of vehicle when needed. Of course, it was his cat who always saved the day but without the Phooeymobile things might not have worked out ok in the end every week for the number 1 super guy.
Flying Car – Dangermouse
I absolutely loved this cartoon but I haven’t seen an episode in probably 20 years. It was thanks to the heroic mouse and Penfold that I worked out the difference between good and evil and also worked out that having a flying car would be a good thing. I still don’t have one.
The Mean Machine – Wacky Races
As a kid I loved Wacky Races but even then I knew that it was all a pointless farce. Dick Dastardly and Muttley had the coolest looking car, were the best characters and always cooked up fiendish plots to win against the fair minded simpletons they were up against. Yet, they never won a single race. Ever.
The Mystery Machine – Scooby Doo

It is more of a van than a car but, hey, it is still cool. Rarely in the history of crime fighting has a brightly coloured van been so useful. Shaggy, Daphne and the rest of the gang apparently got driven around by a Dad in earlier episodes but I can’t say that I remember that.
What I can tell you is that the evil mastermind is, in fact, the owner of the spooky fairground / haunted castle / mysterious circus. He has a mask on. No, really.
