There’s just one choice of engine for the Suzuki S-Cross car lease range, and it’s a 1.4-litre Boosterjet. It develops 127 bhp and will sprint to 62 mph in just over nine seconds. The 48V mild-hybrid assistance helps to improve fuel efficiency and add extra power when needed.
That performance falls slightly for the range-topper since it has all-wheel drive. The power is delivered for all models with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.
The fuel consumption for the crossover impresses with official figures ranging from 48 mpg to 53 mpg. That places the S-Cross in the middle of the benefit-in-kind band for business drivers but it’s still cheaper to tax than many rivals.

This is a comfortable car to drive on long journeys and the higher driving position makes it ideal for journeys around town. The engine performs well at speed, particularly when overtaking on motorways, with both the manual and automatic transmissions working well. The suspension deals with potholed roads and helps with the composed stance when driving at speed on a motorway.
However, to stand out from its rivals, the S-Cross is packed with equipment including heated front seats, parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. There’s also a useful rear-view camera fitted as standard – while the range-topper gets a 360° parking camera.
The interior has been well-designed with good use of quality materials with the infotainment screen being easy-to-use. In the entry-level model, the Motion, this is a 7.0-inch display, while other versions get a 9.0-inch screen. Drivers get smartphone compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity and DAB radio with the range-topping Ultra trim adding built-in satnav.
The S-Cross is a spacious family car to consider, and the Ultra trim adds a panoramic sunroof as standard to create a spacious and airy interior. There are a few cubby holes in all models and the glovebox is fairly large too. For those sitting in the rear seats, there’s plenty of leg and shoulder room with a boot size of 430 litres.
The S-Cross hasn’t been crash-tested by Euro NCAP yet but there’s a lot of safety equipment including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and a blind-spot monitor.
Essentially, the Suzuki S-Cross is a comfortable car to drive with the entry-level model offering a sound motoring choice for families to lease.
