ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE LEXUS UX
The contract hire Lexus UX is available as a self-charging hybrid - the UX - or as an impressive all-electric SUV - the UX 300e.
For the UX, there's a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 144 bhp, with an electric motor adding 108 bhp. This helps the UX sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds - though it does feel quicker.
The self-charging system for the battery works while the UX is driven along and there's a braking regenerative process for when the car is being braked.
The UX 300e offers a better sprint time of 7.5 seconds since all of the car’s torque is available instantly. However, the real attraction of the pricier UX 300e is that the all-electric range is a useful 196 miles. For both versions, the CVT automatic transmission is seamless and smooth, and the cabin is quiet when accelerating.
Drivers should expect fuel economy of around 54 mpg for the UX, and the all-wheel drive alternative Lexus UX returns fuel consumption of 47 mpg. Since the UX has emissions of 120g/km, the Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rate for company car drivers is 28%. The zero-emissions, all-electric UX 300e has a BiK rate of 1% in 2021, and 2% from 2022.
Around town, the Lexus UX car lease delivers agility with an impressive suspension and there's good feedback from the steering. It's a quiet car for long motorway journeys and in a competitive segment, the UX offers an interesting and stylish choice.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE LEXUS UX
There's no doubt that the Lexus UX car lease range is an interesting alternative to the likes of the Audi Q2, or the Jaguar E-Pace. It's an attractive creation and the cabin has been well-designed as a comfortable place to spend time.
The dashboard almost envelopes the driver and there are lots of buttons and dials to use and the 7.0-inch digital display is easy and clear to understand. It's also a breeze to configure to the driver's own needs.
Standard equipment includes dual-zone air conditioning, satnav, 17-inch alloy wheels and smartphone compatibility. Other models feature 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as sport seats, steering wheel and pedals. There are also tinted rear windows and a heated steering wheel and seats.
Some drivers may also enjoy the option of active sound control which will create the sound of the engine speeding up. Not everyone will like the digitally created engine noise, but it is one of the better versions around.
The range-topper is the Takumi which adds ventilated leather seats, a top-end 13-speaker sound system, a 360° camera and a 10.0-inch multimedia display.
There's also blind spot monitoring, a rear cross traffic alert system. as well as a sunroof and a head-up display to read the car's speed and satnav directions.
The Lexus UX lease models come with five option packs including rear and front parking sensors, privacy glass, larger alloy wheels, leather upholstery and an illuminated entry system. The boot size is 320 litres, and a little less in the all-wheel drive version.
However, Lexus has a well-established reputation for delivering reliable cars and they are also very safe as well. Safety kit includes active cruise control that has pedestrian recognition, autonomous emergency braking, road sign recognition and lane keeping assist.
Drivers will also get to enjoy the semi-autonomous driving system to deal with the stop-start nature of traffic. The active cruise control can also be set to comply with roadside speed limit signs.
