GWM ORA ORA Funky CAT in a nutshell

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING

As mentioned previously, the GWM ORA Funky Cat is a larger car than the images suggest and is similar in size to the Volkswagen ID.3 or the Golf.

It’s available in four colours, and the launch First Edition model offers lots of equipment.

Like rivals, the interior is clean and futuristic, and two 10.25-inch high-resolution displays are sitting next to each other, which are smartphone compatible.

Driver assistance features include exterior cameras to help keep the car and occupants safe, plus 12 ultrasonic radar sensors.

The system means that the Funky Cat is capable of Level 2.5 autonomous driving, which is astonishing for a car in this price bracket.

Other safety features include autonomous parking, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assist.

The standard equipment list includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors and LED headlights.

The Funky Cat retro style hides the fact that the technology onboard is not only up-to-date but impressive. The cabin is quiet, progress is swift, and there is good grip on the road and decent feedback from the steering.

It’s a capable performer around town, and the 360-degree cameras make it easy to park. It’s quiet on long motorway journeys, and the impressive torque figure helps with overtaking.

Rivals to the GWM ORA FUNKY CAT

Rivals

As you might expect, the Mini Electric is the Funky Cat's biggest competition here, and you'd be correct. They have been developed jointly and will share many of the same components. Other cars to consider in the sector will be the Vauxhall Corsa E, Peugeot 208 E or the Fiat 500e which also offers some unique styling and presence.

Summary

The GWM Ora Funky Cat is entering a competitive segment, but with the equipment list and price tag, the Funky Cat will make a great choice – it might also make sense for businesses with its low benefit in kind values and for things like salary sacrifice. Monthly prices are coming down and with no fossil fuel bills to pay, this could really be a new value proposition for EV motoring.
