ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE GENESIS G70

There's a choice of two engines for the Genesis G70 lease range which are a 2.0-litre petrol unit, or a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both have turbo charging, and the power is sent to the rear wheels.

The diesel engine returns around 45 mpg, while the petrol unit has fuel consumption of 35 mpg, with emissions of 182g/km.

The petrol engine's power of 194 bhp is delivered using an eight-speed automatic gearbox to help produce a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of six seconds and a top speed of 149 mph.

The diesel engine offers drivers power of 197 bhp and its sprint time is 7.4 seconds - but there's more torque at 440Nm.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE GENESIS G70

The Genesis G70 car lease offers a composed and refined offering in the segment, with the petrol engine being surprisingly quiet, particularly at speed. The interior has an upmarket feel and for those who have never heard of Genesis before, this is the luxury offshoot from Hyundai.

As a four-door saloon, it's taking aim at some well-known rivals and there's a lot to like including the quilted Nappa leather upholstery and rewarding driving experience. The Genesis offering also includes an impressive after-sales offering so whenever the car needs to be serviced, someone will get in touch to pick it up.

The G70 has been a popular choice in North America for a few years and the design is modern and stylish. Drivers get 19-inch alloys and with the Innovation Pack there's a 12.3-inch digital display - this impresses because when drivers indicate to change lanes, a video feed to the display shows the potential blind spot. Otherwise, the Genesis G70 comes with a 10.25-inch display that is easy-to-use.

Behind the wheel, there's a good view of the road ahead, and everything feels balanced with little body roll and it's a smart performer when cornering at speed. There are three trim levels in the G70 line-up with standard features including a rear-view camera, all-round parking sensors and 17-inch alloy wheels, plus LED headlights.

Other models add 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, a powered tailgate and heated front seats and steering wheel. Opt for the G70 Sport Line and drivers get Nappa leather sports seats and a sporty makeover that includes upgraded Brembo brakes and 19-inch wheels.

The model hasn't been tested by Euro NCAP yet, but other models in the Genesis range have the full five stars for crash test safety. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control that has sensors to detect other vehicles and pedestrians, plus blind spot collision avoidance.

Essentially, the contract hire Genesis G70 is a sound alternative to German rivals with lots of comfort and excellent levels of handling.
