Overview of the DS DS 4

Behind the wheel, the DS DS4 car lease range offers a rewarding driving experience in what is a great looking and well-designed offering. With great handling and smart styling, this upmarket hatchback impresses with quality.

Why choose a DS4

The DS DS4 car lease range offers diesel and petrol engines, plus the hybrid. There's a 1.2-litre petrol unit offering 128 bhp and returning 47 mpg, while the more powerful 1.6-litre petrol engines deliver 178 bhp or 222 bhp and return 43 mpg. For high mileage drivers, the 1.5-litre diesel engine impresses with a power output of 128 bhp and will return more than 60 mpg.

The petrol engines are sprightly around town, and the diesel unit is smooth and quiet on long motorway journeys. The power for the engines is delivered using a smooth-changing, eight-speed automatic transmission.

However, the plug-in hybrid, the DS4 E-Tense, offers low running costs and an all-electric range of 38 miles - that's enough to cover the daily commute for most people. It's also a sound choice as a company car with emissions of 27g/km, resulting in a lower benefit-in-kind (BiK) tax bracket than the combustion engines.

DS DS 4 in a nutshell

Leasing a DS4 is an easy process, with there being four trims to choose from and three styling options - a great idea for those who want to stand out from the crowd. And since this is competing in a competitive segment, DS really has put together a car that is refined to take on its more popular German counterparts.

What to expect when you lease a DS4

With the petrol or diesel engine, the DS4 is a comfortable car to drive around town and on motorways, with the more powerful petrol engines offering better performance, but the almost-quiet hybrid is worth a closer look too. The steering in all models gives good feedback and the chassis and suspension work to deliver a smooth and comfortable ride. Using 'Comfort' mode, the DS4 hybrid is an impressive offering. This is also a spacious car; there's decent headroom for those in the rear seats and a boot size of 390 litres is useful.

Drivers get a large 10.0-inch central infotainment display, and a smaller touchpad sits below the dashboard with the driver's most popular functions within easy reach. The display is easy-to-use with crisp graphics and the gear selector is almost disguised to be unobtrusive - and so are the air vents. The interior has a clean, smart design with an overall premium look without the premium price tag.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, and satnav while the better spec versions of the DS4 car leasing range add leather seats, laminated glass and safety features including lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. The options list includes a top-end sound system and wireless phone charging. The Cross variant is worth considering with its advanced traction control system that delivers excellent grip on slippery surfaces - a sound choice if you don't want permanent all-wheel drive.

There's plenty of safety equipment onboard including level 2 semi-autonomous driving that includes adaptive cruise control with the range-topper adding blind spot assistance and rear traffic monitoring. There's also an optional ‘Nightvision’ system to spot obstructions and pedestrians in the road at night.

There's a lot to like about the DS DS4 which is a big step up from the previous model and as an alternative in the luxury hatchback range, it's a car leasing deal worth considering for its refinement, rewarding handling and equipment levels.
