It is the bestselling SUV in the firm’s line-up, and now the Volkswagen Tiguan has undergone a facelift.
There is a raft of new technology and cosmetic changes to keep the car attractive in a competitive segment – particularly against the likes of the excellent Peugeot 3008.
The Tiguan is VW’s worldwide bestseller, and there’s a new trim line-up for drivers to understand.
There are also six engine and gearbox configurations across the four trim levels in the new look offering.
VW Tiguan is a capable all-rounder
The VW Tiguan is a capable all-rounder and some engines now feature cylinder-deactivation to boost fuel economy.
Prices for the entry-level version start at £24,915 OTR, which is slightly less than the current model.
The entry-level Tiguan features a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine producing 130 PS, which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Fuel economy is 45mpg, with emissions of 143g/km. Its 0 to 62 mph sprint time is less than 11 seconds, and the stylish SUV’s top speed is 121 mph.
Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights, with safety equipment features such as a multifunction front facing camera, lane-keep persist and front assist.
Sound car leasing choice
There’s also a new infotainment system for this sound car leasing choice, with an 8-inch touchscreen available that offers streaming and Internet capabilities.
The VW wireless and connect app offers smartphone mirroring without the need of a table.
Other trims come with the option of a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, with the 2.0-litre diesel engine returning 52mpg and emissions of 147g/km.
Equipment levels are also boosted with roof rails, larger alloy wheels, rear tinted glass, front comfort seats, climate control and a leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel.
Tiguan Life will be the bestseller
Volkswagen says that the Tiguan Life will be the bestseller in the revamped line-up and will account for around 50% of sales – and a fair few of those will be on personal or business contract hire.
Safety kit for the Life includes adaptive cruise control, rear and front parking sensors, a driver alert system and there’s a dynamic road sign display offering.
There are also two separate range-topping variants available offering more luxury and comfort.
With these, drivers will enjoy a panoramic sunroof, a sensor-controlled tailgate, a rear-view camera for reversing and rear traffic alert.
Volkswagen Tiguan is a popular choice
While the Volkswagen Tiguan is a popular choice for SUV lovers, the firm says that it will, later this year, confirm that the R, the R-Line, as well as the Tiguan eHybrid will be available in our showrooms.
