A new VW Tiguan model has an impressive new engine.
There is a new VW Tiguan model available featuring an impressive 2.0 litre bi-turbo diesel engine producing 240 PS which is the most potent version produced yet by the German carmaker.
It’s only available in the luxurious SEL and the sporty R-Line trims but there’s also a new 2.0 litre TSI unit that produces 180 PS that’s also available.
The diesel unit is producing more power than that found in the Golf GTI with the BiTDI producing 30 PS more than the previously most powerful Tiguan – the 2.0 TSI.
New diesel engine for the VW Tiguan
The new diesel engine for the VW Tiguan is the same that comes with the excellent VW Passat as well as the VW Passat Alltrack and is coupled, as standard, to the firm’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system,
For those who need the performance, the new engine will propel the Tiguan from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 142 mph.
Indeed, this level of performance makes the VW Tiguan one of the best SUVs currently available.
The new model also comes with battery regeneration and a stop/start system that helps deliver CO2 emissions of 167g/km while its fuel economy is 44 mpg.
Also making available on the Tiguan a 2.0 TSI petrol unit
VW is also making available on the Tiguan a 2.0 TSI petrol unit that is coupled to either a seven speed automatic transmission or six speed manual box. The SUV also comes with 4Motion and has a top speed of 129 mph with emissions of 170g/km and fuel economy of 38 mpg. The sprint time for the petrol engine to reach 62 mph is 7.7 seconds.
Both of the new models come packed with equipment including satnav and infotainment system, adaptive cruise control while some models come with a larger touchscreen and a digital instrument panel.
