Citroen C5 X gets its official launch

The stylish Citroen C5 X car lease model has been unveiled and it becomes the firm’s new flagship car.

Citroen says that the model is unique in its segment and offers the appeal and modernity of an SUV, the practicality of an estate and the elegance of an up-market saloon.

The new model also offers a glimpse of the styling for future Citroen cars and the advanced technology will also be extended to new models.

Not only is the new car a comfortable creation, but the comfort levels are underpinned by a suspension system delivering a smooth ride.

Engines for the contract hire Citroen C5 X include a 1.2-litre petrol engine with three cylinders producing 130 hp and fuel economy of 49 mpg – emissions are 136 g/km.

There’s also a more powerful 180 PureTech offering with a 1.6-litre engine delivering 180 hp, torque of 250Nm, fuel economy of 45mpg and emissions of 147g/km.

However, the plug-in hybrid versions are worth a closer look and add an 81kW electric motor to a 1.6-litre petrol engine.

Drivers get a car that produces 225 hp with torque of 360Nm, and the potential of up to 37 miles in battery power.

Its Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax rate is 12% since the emissions are just 30g/km which makes it hugely attractive to car drivers, for example.

Trim levels for the new offering

The trim levels for the new C5 X offering sees a lot of equipment being added as standard including alloy wheels, electronic and heated door mirrors and automatic LED headlights.

There’s also a 10.0-inch central display that is smartphone compatible and the safety kit includes a reversing camera, and an active safety brake with forward collision alert.

Other models add a heated steering wheel, a 12.0-inch central display and there’s also an extended head-up display so drivers can see the car’s vital information projected onto its screen.

Safety features include level 2 autonomous driver assistance and a radar controlled active safety brake.

The range-topper has tinted rear windows, leather upholstery and a 360° vision camera that has extended blind spot monitoring.

The plug-in hybrid creations have special badging and there’s a 7.4kW on-board charger which means a full charge of the battery will take just one hour and 40 minutes.

Essentially, the Citroen C5 X is an impressive new flagship offering from the carmaker and the plug-in hybrid is a car delivering low running costs and, for company car drivers, it’s a sound choice with a low BiK rate.
