The Ford Fiesta now has Powerboost

Don’t be put off by the size of the engine since the sprightly EcoBoost will outperform bigger engine and is more economical.

The Ford Fiesta was Europe’s second best-selling small car in the first nine months of this year and is by far the biggest seller in Britain; it’s racked up more than 100,000 sales so far in 2013.

Now with the PowerShift automatic transmission, the Ford Fiesta will find a new army of fans who will enjoy its sleek design and great performance. In addition, there’s also a range of smart technologies included such as emergency assistance which will see the car automatically call the emergency services in 40 countries as well as active city stop to avoid low speed collisions.

The Ford Fiesta has seven powertrain options

There are seven powertrain options in the Ford Fiesta range which will emit less than 100g/km CO2, including the 1.0-litre EcoBoost which has won the prestigious ‘International Engine of the Year’ for the last two years.

The PowerShift automatic transmission is a six speed dual clutch, it’s the first time Ford has combined these two technologies, and will return around 58 mpg.

Ford are obviously expecting big things from this new addition to the Ford Fiesta line-up and they are looking to the 10% sales boost they saw in the B-MAX compact MPV when the PowerShift automatic transmission was introduced for that range to be replicated here.

Sales boost for Ford Fiesta predicted

Alongside this impressive sales result, Ford also registered increasing demand for automatic transmissions in its S-MAX, Mondeo, Galaxy and Kuga ranges.

Buyers of the Ford Fiesta with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine are enjoying cutting-edge technologies which include direct fuel injection, turbocharging and variable valve timing to deliver the power of a larger engine with the fuel efficiency of a smaller engine.

The three-cylinder engine block is small enough to fit into the overhead luggage compartment of an aeroplane.

There’s no doubt that the Ford Fiesta with automatic transmission will win over lots of new buyers and they will be rewarded with a great small car that is fun to drive, frugal and packed with new technology.
