Hyundai says that by using an ultra-rapid charger, drivers will be able to recharge the battery to 80% of its capacity in 18 minutes.

They add that it will take just five minutes to deliver 60 miles of range.

The battery is also capable of powering devices such as laptops in the cabin.

There’s a lot of equipment for the three trims with standard equipment including 19-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, satnav and a 12.3-inch infotainment display.

There’s also smartphone compatibility, wireless phone charging and a digital instrument cluster.

Drivers also get a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors with the satnav working out the best route that will highlight potential charging stops if necessary.

Other models come with power-adjustable driver seat, a powered tailgate and semi-autonomous driving.

There’s also blind spot collision avoidance and forward collision assist.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate

The top model is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate which comes with privacy and solar glass, leather upholstery, a head-up display that features augmented reality and a premium sound system.

Options include an Eco Pack that includes a heat pump and a battery heating system, relaxation premium seats and parking collision avoidance.

The new Ioniq 5 is available in a range of colours, along with the firm’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty and the battery is covered for 100,000 miles or eight years.
