The Ford Ecosport is to have a significant restyling upgrade and new models added to the line-up in a bid to make it even more popular.
In addition, Ford has also improved the driving dynamics for the vehicle which is based on the excellent Fiesta platform.
There are also a range of equipment upgrades for the SUV too.
Among the most noticeable changes will be the removal of the rear mounted spare wheel and the interior has been enhanced including the instrument cluster.
Improved performance in the Ford Ecosport
Engineers have also reduced its ride height, revising the suspension and the rear twist beam to help improve handling and ride for the Ford Ecosport.
There’s also improved power steering and the electronic stability control system has been optimised for more effectiveness.
Owners will find that comfort and convenience are the keywords with heated front seats, heated mirrors and windscreen (in the Winter Pack option) as well as thicker materials to help soundproof the cabin.
Among the new models is the Ford Ecosport S which made its debut at Geneva and comes with 17 inch alloy wheels and a range of kit upgrades.
Ford Ecosport – part of an impressive SUV line-up
The new model sits alongside the improved Ford Kuga and complements the Ford Edge which is heading to the UK next year.
The Ford Ecosport has been fairly successful in the UK with more than 4,000 vehicles sold since launch in April 2014. The new upgraded models can be ordered from June.
Ford has also tackled the issue of owners struggling to open the rear door in tight spaces (a problem highlighted in the First Vehicle Leasing review of the Ecosport) by allowing it to be partially opened more easily.
Among the new kit for the Ford Ecosport are a rearview camera and satnav technology.

For those who opt to either the Ecosport without the rear wheel on the tailgate, there is a tyre mobility kit being offered instead.
Options include privacy glass and Ford has relocated the handbrake for improved access.
The Ford Ecosport is competing in a very tight segment but it is a worthy contender in the small crossover SUV market.
