Alfa Romeo Giulietta celebrates anniversary

Alfa Romeo Giulietta

For the 60th anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the firm has announced a new hot Quadrifoglio Verde.

Though the model is better known in the UK as the Cloverleaf, the motor now comes with launch control to help propel it from 0-62mph in six seconds – that’s nearly a second faster than the model it replaces. The Quadrifoglio Verde has a top speed of 149mph.

The model made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show and underneath the bonnet the model uses the same turbo petrol engine that’s used in the firm’s 4C supercar.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde will impress

That’s to say that it is a six speed, twin dry clutch direct injection, aluminium block, 1750 engine which produces 240hp.

Owners will also get to enjoy a new ‘QV Intake Engine Sound’ to help enjoy the throaty roar of an Alfa in full cry.

Alfa has also improved the interior and also installed a new instrument panel, sports seats and a new steering wheel.

There’s no doubt that the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde carries the marque’s racing DNA with strong looks and impressive performance. Add in dark tinted glass, the legendary Quadrifoglio Verde emblem on its wings, the large double exhaust tailpipes and 18 inch alloy wheels and it’s certainly a head-turning car.

* There’s also a new Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde which comes complete with a new interior, fresh styling and a new powertrain. Standard kit has also been boosted and now includes sat nav and DAB. The MiTo will power from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds.

Both cars will go on sale in the UK in July; the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde starts at £28,120 OTR (though it’s £30,2802 for the special Launch edition) and £20,210 OTR for the Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde.

Alfa say that both models will be making their official UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June.
