We may not be long into 2018, but already the 2019 facelifted Jeep Cherokee has been unveiled.

The new SUV will be in the UK later this year with a new exterior design as well as a new 2.0 litre direct injection engine.

The new model offers convenience and comfort with lots of sound practical ideas; Jeep also says the handling and ride have been boosted.

A lot of that is down to the independent rear front suspension system that helps to deliver world-class body torsional stiffness – a big boost for those who planning to go off-roading in difficult terrain.

Jeep Cherokee features a new four-cylinder petrol engine

Under the bonnet, the Jeep Cherokee features a new advanced 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine to boost efficiency and performance. The engine produces 266 bhp and torque of 400 Nm.

There are three engine choices available for potential buyers which are coupled to a nine-speed transmission and they include a 3.2 litre V6 and a 2.4 litre Multiair2 unit.

However, Jeep also says that the new model will feature more than 80 security and safety features including parking assist, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning.

New Jeep Cherokee offers five trim levels

The new Jeep Cherokee offers five trim levels and the latest connectivity systems which come with either a 7-inch or an 8.4 inch screen. Opt for the larger screen and it comes equipped with satnav.

The communication system also features Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Bluetooth and a choice of digital instrument clusters.

The exterior tweaks give the Cherokee a fresh look and the rear of the vehicle has also been given a fresh chunky look and lighting signatures.

All models in the Cherokee range will be fitted with 19-inch wheels as standard but the top spec model, the Trailhawk, will have special 17-inch tyres for off-roading.

Though SUVs have taken off in popularity, most owners don’t often, if ever, take them off-roading but the new Jeep Cherokee has been designed to maintain its ‘go-anywhere’ history and there are also three innovative 4×4 systems available.

All of them have been developed to deliver capabilities in all weather conditions so for those who need off-road capabilities, the Cherokee will deliver.

The refreshed Jeep Cherokee is entering an increasingly competitive market and this is a stylish offering with decent off-road credentials and lots of equipment to please most SUV buyers.
