The new Audi A3 makes its debut this week with numerous new infotainment and driver assistance updates, new engines and upgrades to styling and specification.
The Audi A3 is a bestselling model for the carmaker and the revamped version looks set to do well with new engines, refined styling and technology developments.
While the exterior tweaks aren’t too noticeable, owners of the new vehicle will find new driver assistance features including rear cross traffic assist and traffic jam assist which works with the adaptive cruise control to avoid hitting the vehicle in front. Audi have also added rain and light sensors, cruise control and a three spoke multifunction steering wheel.
Engines for the Audi A3
The engines for the Audi A3 consist of a new 2.0 litre TFSI which delivers 188bhp and, for the first time, a three-cylinder 1.0litre turbocharged TFSI unit which produces 114bhp. There’s also the option of a 1.4litre turbo which produces 148bhp and boosts its economy by switching off two cylinders when not needed. The diesel engines, particularly the 2.0litre TDI, are also very good.
There are also new trim levels, new colours as well as new wheel designs and there’s the option of Audi’s digital virtual cockpit. The firm has also added as standard smartphone interface which – for the first time – enables two smartphones to work with Bluetooth connectivity.
Dominating the dashboard is a 12.3inch screen for the digitised instrument panel and there’s also Audi’s 7inch retracting multimedia screen which doubles as the satnav and the option of connecting to Google Street View.

Available to order in May, the new Audi A3 will be delivered from late summer.
However, the hybrid Audi A3 will make an appearance here later this year with the plug-in A3 Sportback and the promise of an impressive 176mpg and emissions of just 36g/km which is sure to attract attention and help make the A3 even more popular!
