New Skoda Fabio Monte Carlo launched

One of the most popular models from the previous version of the Skoda Fabio was the Monte Carlo and now the carmaker is bringing it back.

The new version is an excellent addition to the award-winning supermini range and is available as either an estate or hatchback with a good choice of engines available.

It’s in the showrooms from September, prices start at £14,645 OTR and it’s available to order now.

The new special edition comes with a sporty new interior and improved exterior body style.

Based on the excellent Skoda Fabio SE, the Monte Carlo adds black alloy wheels, radiator grille and door mirror caps.

There’s also a sunset glass, LED daytime lights, front fog lights and a panoramic glass sunroof.

The Skoda Fabio special edition also comes with front sports seats, a cherry red centre console, a multifunction steering wheel and Monte Carlo pedals.

Opt for the estate version and owners will have black roof rails fitted.

The Skoda Fabio SE is already a well specified car and the new model comes with a 6.5 inch colour touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio and SmartLink which displays a mobile phone’s functions on the touchscreen.

The Monte Carlo also comes with air con, front assist emergency braking as well as a remote locking and alarm system.

A wide range of engines to choose from

However, the car also comes with a wide range of engines to choose from: there are three petrol engines consisting of a 1.0 litre three cylinder unit which produces 75 PS and 1.2 litre engine that produces 90 PS and one that produces 110 PS.

The 1.0 litre unit should return around 59 mpg while having CO2 emissions of 108g/km and the 1.2 litre unit should return 60 mpg.

Alongside these sit two diesel engines: a 1.4 litre three cylinder engine will produce 90 PS and which has impressive fuel economy of 79mpg and emissions of just 93g/km. The same engine is also available with a more powerful output.

The estate version comes with a 1.2 litre petrol engine but will still return 60 mpg.

Skoda are hoping to build on their UK sales success and the Monte Carlo is linked to the firm’s rally success with a previous incarnation also being a bestseller here.

Indeed, the Skoda Fabio was recently voted a major car magazine’s ‘Car of the Year’ and with judges appreciating vehicle’s design, comfort levels and build quality.
