Overview of the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack
Engines and performance for the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack
The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack comes with a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 187 bhp. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There's also all-wheel-drive so there's plenty of grip when on slippery surfaces and increased pulling power for towing trailers or caravans. Fuel economy is around 57 mpg with emissions of 137g/km.
Equipment and handling
For those who are wanting a well-made and well-designed estate car that is capable of going off-road, then the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is worth considering. It's not only a stylish creation with an impressive cabin, it has all-wheel-drive to deal with muddy fields or country tracks effectively. VW has added various pieces of protection, including skid plates and body cladding with the raised ride height delivering the ability to traverse a muddy field effectively. Indeed, something like the Passat Alltrack makes for a better choice than many SUV's since the diesel engine is refined and responsive plus there's a large boot and comfort levels are high. It's also a very nice car to drive on long motorway journeys and it is agile and responsive around town. The Alltrack delivers a standout performance on winding country roads with lots of grip and little in the way of body roll. There's also the option of dynamic chassis control which delivers adaptive dampers, so drivers can reset the driving mode from 'comfort', which absorbs rough roads effectively to 'normal' mode, which stiffens up the body control, to 'sport' which delivers a sharper response from the throttle and suspension. The Passat Alltrack features an 8-inch colour touchscreen which is easy-to-use with Bluetooth connectivity and a DAB radio. There's also wireless smartphone mirroring with the car's buttons and switches within easy reach. There are parking sensors, satnav and three-zone climate control in what is a plush cabin with a premium feel. Safety features include traction control, stability control and lots of airbags. There's also automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection and automatic high beam lights on the options list. Essentially, the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is a spacious and very comfortable estate car delivering decent off-roading abilities to offer a versatile and practical alternative for those who may occasionally need to drive across slippery surfaces or rough ground.
