Leasing a Volkswagen Taigo
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE FOR THE VOLKSWAGEN TAIGO
The contract hire Volkswagen Taigo comes with a choice of three petrol engines with two 1.0-litre units producing either 94 bhp or 108 bhp. Of the two, the more powerful unit delivers better acceleration and there's an extra gear that makes it a more enjoyable car to drive on motorways.
There's also the option of the VW's seven-speed automatic transmission.
Alternatively, there's the choice of a 1.5-litre petrol engine that is only available with the automatic gearbox and it produces 148 bhp. It's a much quicker car and the smooth-changing transmission makes this a rewarding vehicle to drive.
The entry-level petrol engine returns around 52 mpg with a manual gearbox, while the more powerful unit will return 48 mpg.
Fuel consumption for the 1.5-litre engine sees its extra power been reflected in the 47 mpg fuel consumption figure. There's also a cylinder deactivation feature for this engine to save fuel. The Taigo's CO2 emissions are 124g/km for the automatic transmissions.

EQUIPMENT AND HANDLING FOR THE VOLKSWAGEN TAIGO
The Volkswagen Taigo car lease range is a practical choice, even with the sloping roofline that doesn't quite intrude into the rear seat space to annoy tall passengers. So, this is a coupe SUV which are growing in popularity, though this is a cheaper choice.
It's also a practical offering with lots of interior storage and a well-designed cabin that has been put together with premium materials. The Taigo is a nice car to drive around town, and a surprisingly quiet motorway cruiser with the engines delivering power when necessary.
The boot size is 440 litres, which is good for the size of the car, and loading heavy items into the boot should be easy with the low lip.
As should be expected, the VW Taigo comes with lots of equipment with each model having a touchscreen digital instrument display. The entry-level model offers a basic digital display, while the upgraded versions for the better spec model impress with crisp graphics and quick loading times. There's also a clear view across the dashboard because the touchscreen is mounted within the centre console, and it's easy-to-use without having to take your eyes off the road.
Standard equipment for the new VW Taigo impresses for the low starting price, and includes rear and front parking sensors, ambient lighting, alloy wheels, smartphone compatibility and the firm's Travel Assist system. Other models feature satnav, matrix LED headlights, Internet connectivity and multi-zone air-conditioning.
The range-topper is the R-Line which offers tinted rear windows, different seat upholstery, various driving modes and different wheel designs. Options include a contrasting black roof, a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, a rear-view camera, keyless entry and a top-end sound system.
There's also a lot of safety equipment on the new Taigo which borrows a lot from current VW models, including autonomous emergency braking that will work effectively at speeds of up to 130 mph.
VW has also added its adaptive cruise control system, lane-keeping assist and traffic jam assist - which form part of the Travel Assist offering.
Essentially, the contract hire Volkswagen Taigo is a practical and stylish small SUV that impresses on several levels, and while it is in a competitive car leasing segment, there's a lot to like about this very comfortable and well-designed car.
