Leasing a Renault Kadjar
SMART TECH MIXED WITH FUNCTIONALITY IN A FAMILY FRIENDLY PACKAGE
The Kadjar is the mid-sized family cross-over offering from Renault. It’s similar in size to the Ford Kuga or Nissan Qashqai. In fact, Nissan and Renault have co-developed the car to help share the costs. Renault have cleverly increased the body over hangs however, to give a slightly more practical wheelbase and bigger boot. The first thing to greet you as you step on board the Renault Kadjar is the new digital drivers cluster with large digital speedometer, this is standard across the range, then we have new seats and nice chrome effect climate controls. The overall seating position in the Renault Kadjar is a little higher than some rivals too which is nice for that elevated view.
ENGINES & PERFORMANCE
Things are kept straight forward here. The Renault Kadjar has two diesel and two petrol options. Auto gearbox is available on everything except the base ‘Play’ models. The main powerplant is the 1.5DCi with 115ps. This is capable of up to 56mpg on the WLTP cycle. The more powerful 1.7DCI comes with 150ps, but is only available in the GT-Line AWD and can return 47.9mpg. For the petrol line-up we have two versions of the 1.3TCE engine. Both units are turbo-charged, the first unit provides 140bhp and this can return 42.2mpg. The more powerful lump pushes out 160bhp and can return a very similar 42.6mpg. Our pick of the bunch would be the 1.5DCi unit. The Renault Kadjar is a big car and we feel the fuel consumption is affected by that size. This engine gives the best blend of value and performance with a healthy torque figure of 260nm, it pulls well. The more powerful 1.3TCE petrol gives the same torque figure but can’t match the consumption and although the 1.7DCI is more powerful we can’t justify the jump in cost.
The facelifted Renault Kadjar is not wanting when it comes gadgets. The base ‘Play’ model comes with 17” Alloys, climate control, cruise control and auto lights and wipers.
Next up, you have the ‘Iconic’ model which gets a bit more tech in the way of the 7” R-Link touchscreen system with Navigation and DAB radio. Android Auto and Apple car play making an appearance too, plus larger 19” alloys and a fancy looking handsfree key card for easy access. You then have the sportier S-Edition. Specification gets a bit more grown up with features like front and rear parking sensors (good for a car this size), panoramic glass sunroof, chrome roof bars and rear parking camera. Lastly, you have the range topping GT-Line. As the name suggests you get some more sporty equipment like the diamond cut 19” alloys and extra tinted rear side windows. Over and above the S-Edition model you also get the hand free parking system and active emergency braking system. To add to the luxury feeling you get the BOSE sound system with a total of 9 speakers which is a joy to listen too and full leather upholstery with some nice stitching, electric functionality and seat heating. The panoramic roof makes an appearance again on the GT-Line too, letting more light in, very nice indeed.
