The Audi A3 Cabriolet is an attractive and affordable soft top that impresses. It's a quiet car with the roof up or down and the engines offer excellent performance.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet comes with a good choice of engines including a fast 2.0 litre petrol unit for the S3 and a cheap to run 1.6 litre diesel unit. Perhaps the best blend for power and economy is the 1.4 litre petrol unit. Economy for the engine range is from 41 mpg to 70 mpg.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet is an impressive droptop version of the firm's A3 saloon with an interior that is nothing short of classy thanks to the extensive use of premium materials and excellent design. There is plenty of room on board the four-seater for adults and the fabric roof folds quickly and neatly into the boot.
There's plenty of equipment fitted as standard including an eight-speaker stereo, DAB radio as well as air conditioning and a leather wrapped steering wheel. Audi added more equipment in 2016 including cruise control, xenon headlamps and automatic wipers and lights. Options also include Audi's excellent virtual cockpit display which utilises a 12.3-inch touchscreen to replace the instrument binnacle. Safety equipment for the car includes electronic stability control and spring-loaded rollover hoops to protect the occupants should the car roll over.
Out on the road, the A3 Cabriolet is a good performer with plenty of grip and accurate feedback from the steering and unlike some of its soft top rivals, the car chassis deals with rough and winding roads effectively. With the roof up the car is warm and quiet and when it's down it a great place to spend time and it's a comfortable motorway cruiser as well.
Essentially, the Audi A3 Cabriolet has a premium look and feel and adds to the Cabriolet market with an excellent offering.
