BMW X5 gets a facelift for 2023

It’s one of the sector’s pioneering SUVs and now the contract hire BMW X5 has been given a facelift.

There’s a new design for the popular vehicle including narrower headlights and a new kidney grille and arrow-shaped signal indicators.

Other external changes include front side panel air breathers, along with ‘Electrified by i’ badging on the BMW X5 xDrive50e.

The model also features new standard equipment including aluminium roof rails and for the Exterior Line trim, there’s underside protection and new geometry for the car’s rear apron.

The BMW X5 lease range

All petrol and diesel engines in the BMW X5 lease range feature the latest version of the firm’s 48V mild-hybrid technology to help boost fuel economy, while the M model flagship features a 4.4-litre V8 engine producing 530 hp.

For those who would like a petrol engine, there’s a new 6-cylinder 3.0-litre unit available producing 380 hp – that’s 48 bhp more than the predecessor.

This power helps deliver a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of 5.4 seconds and the engine also features various innovations from the ignition system to the combustion process.

BMW also says that the X5 offers outstanding comfort over long distances with the option of a third row of seats for the X5 xDrive30d.

There’s also a new two-section tailgate so it’s easier to put items into the car’s boot.

Features the firm’s curved display with intuitive touch control

The new model also features the firm’s curved display with intuitive touch control, and it consists of a 12.3-inch information screen that sits behind the steering wheel, along with a 14.9-inch display. Both displays are behind a single glass surface to appear as one screen.

Drivers will also enjoy the functionality of the new system because BMW has reduced the number of controls and buttons.

It also means that the automatic climate control system can be used with control graphics that are on permanent display.

Control panel for the iDrive controller

There are also new touch-sensitive surfaces, and the centre console includes the control panel for the iDrive controller, the electric parking brake as well as settings for the off-road driving modes and the optional air suspension system.

Along with the new gear selector, drivers also get driving experience control buttons.

There’s also a new comfort pack fitted as standard for the excellent contract hire BMW X5 which has heated seats for the passengers in the outer rear seats along with a heated steering wheel, centre console and door armrests.

There’s even a thermal function for the trims, to keep them warm or cool as needed.
