The new Audi A6 offers buyers a stylish new package in a car that handles well and there’s even a new economy-focused model available.

The A6 fleet has had many improvements and is now available to order with deliveries starting in December 2014.

However, Audi fans who are looking forward to the Audi S6 and the Audi S6 Avant will have to wait a little longer with deliveries for these cars starting from next March.

New styling for the Audi A6

In addition, anyone hoping to get behind the wheel of the new Audi RS6 Avant will have to wait to order one, but the carmaker says deliveries should begin by spring next year.

There have been various styling revisions to the line-up including xenon headlamps fitted as standard for the SE versions, while the S line get LED headlights as standard instead.

Audi have decided that the A6, S6 and RS6 Avant will come with matrix LED lights.

The interior has also been slightly tweaked and there’s an upgraded infotainment system on board as well.

New Audi A6 have lower emissions

Audi have been working hard to reduce the emissions from its engines, which are now EU6 compliant with the average reduction being 22%.

However, the star of the engine range is the new 2.0litre TDI ultra unit which should return around 67mpg while having CO2 emissions of just 109g/km.

Interestingly, the S line spec, with 18 inch alloy wheels, has very similar economy figures and emissions of just 110g/km.

Most of the manual transmission models in the Audi A6 will return around 65mpg while having emissions of 113g/km.

Speed fans will have a new V6 TDI engine for the A6 saloon and Avant models which have either twin or single turbocharging.

There’s also a new six-cylinder 3.0litre TDI, what Audi calls a ‘clean diesel’, which will produce 218PS and this replaces the current 204PS engine.

Handling is as impressive as ever, and Audi have replaced the multitronic CVT front wheel drive variants with a new S tronic twin clutch transmission.

As one would expect, there’s a great deal of kit on-board, especially for safety equipment, as well as an impressive phone box compartment which will boost the phone’s signal for reception by connecting it to the car’s antenna.

Prices for the Audi A6 start at £31,955 OTR for the TDI ultra saloon with the top price being £58,000 for the S6 Avant.
