The Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class have been named Best Executive Car and Best Luxury Car respectively at the 2014 Fleet World Honours – recognising the best in innovation, quality and sustainability in the fleet industry.
Steve Moody, Editor of Fleet World magazine, commented: ‘The E-Class got a major facelift last year that included adding a huge amount of clever safety kit as standard and improving quality all round. So it’s now a very different car and it shows in the success it has had in fleet. The hybrid diesel is the best hybrid on the market and the traditional diesels are now extremely competitive too.’
Steve added: ‘The S-Class is ubiquitous, and the new model is only set to make it more so. Mercedes just understands the luxury market perfectly, so you get unmatched levels of refinement comfort and luxury. Its clever new active ride suspension makes a mockery of potholes while options such as Burmester sound system and a whole menu of different types of massage make it the ultimate car in which to work and relax.’

Nick Andrews, Head of Fleet for Mercedes-Benz Cars, commented: ‘We’ve worked hard to rationalise the E-Class range so that it works for our fleet customers and are delighted that the panel at Fleet World recognise this. With our efficient engines, competitive CO2 emissions, great levels of standard equipment and compelling finance offers we are asking fleet customers to ‘take another look’ ─ our numbers really do work…
‘The new S-Class launched in the UK in September 2013 and has gone down a storm. The S-Class has long been recognised as a benchmark for luxury saloons and we are thrilled that Fleet World agrees with us on that.‘
The E-Class is available with a choice of three diesel engines, three petrol engines and one diesel hybrid with CO2 emissions from just 109 g/km and fuel economy of 68.9 mpg on the combined cycle.
With new engines launched this year the S-Class range is now also complete with 4-, 6-, 8- and 12-cylinder engines including the new S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid which returns 61.4 mpg with emissions of just 120 g/km of CO2.
