Japan. Suzuka is always a difficult track to manage, even in a well-balanced car, and it has been the scene of many dramatic moments in F1 history.

As with every Grand Prix this year, you can enter our FVL F1 Podium Winners Competition to win £50 of vouchers if you correctly guess the podium. Click here to enter by adding your prediction – full terms and conditions here.

The race itself may be a very wet affair, with a massive weather system moving in. Qualifying held few surprises, but the race itself promises to be either hugely interesting, or hugely boring running behind a safety car in a monsoon!

Big news of the day: Sebastian Vettel to leave Red Bull

Yes. To Ferrari. But he’s not saying that’s where he’s going. And Ferrari are saying nothing right now. And where is Alonso going? McLaren? Williams? Mercedes? It’s an intriguing situation. The promising young Russian Danny Kvyat has been confirmed this morning by Red Bull to replace Vettel, and Max Verstappen is confirmed to replace Vergne at Torro Rosso. Alonso’s move is the big one – and its timing. If he goes to McLaren, who are tipped to do well in 2015 with Honda power returning to F1, Button will probably go – but he’ll likely still be in demand elsewhere. But if it’s Alonso to Mercedes, what happens to Nico or Lewis? And to Williams, is it Massa or Bottas who go out.

Interesting times ahead…
