Vauxhall also says that its revolutionary FlexDoors and FlexSpace systems remain unique in sector and the car goes on sale from next month.

There’s no doubt that the Vauxhall Meriva has come of age with its new look and the class-leading Euro-6 diesel engine will find new admirers.

Vauxhall Meriva gets a revamp

The second-generation of the Vauxhall Meriva was launched in 2010 and brought something different to the market (though not, as Vauxhall claims) enough to ‘turn the market on its head’.

The door opening system is a boon and creates a 20% larger opening and the seats can be moved about to create a variety of seating arrangements and large carrying space.

In a bid to give the Vauxhall Meriva a newer look, designers have given the car a new grille, newly-designed headlamps and LED daytime running lights and tail lights. There are also 18-inch alloy wheels as an option.

The polishing of the Vauxhall Meriva takes its lead from the revamped Zafira Tourer which is why the all-new 1.6 CDTi diesel engine is available in the Vauxhall Meriva. The Euro-6 compliant engine, which is also efficient and refinement, produces 136PS and 320Nm of torque at 2,000rpm, and will return 64.2mpg on the combined cycle and 116g/km of CO2 emissions.

New Vauxhall Meriva diesel engine is more efficient

The new diesel is around 10% more efficient for its economy/emissions over the 1.7 CDTi, which the unit replaces.

Performance figures for the 1.6 CDTi reveal it will accelerate from 0-60mph in 9.1 seconds, nearly a second quicker than the 1.7 CDTi. The Vauxhall Meriva  petrol engine range (1.4 100PS, 1.4T 120 and 140PS) remains and is now fully Euro-6 compliant.

The Vauxhall Meriva, like all Vauxhalls, the Meriva comes with its ‘Lifetime Warranty’, which offers owners peace of mind for as long as they own the car, up to 100,000 miles.

There are no prices announced yet for the Vauxhall Meriva but they will be released when the car goes on sale next month. Deliveries will be made in January.
