Mercedes SL: now with added AMG

The impressive Mercedes SL Class has just got a tad more impressive with new AMG models.

From next month, the range will see significant changes with the SL 350 and SL 500 will be available as AMG Sport models.

There’s also additional standard equipment for the Mercedes SL 63 AMG.

Thanks to enhanced standard equipment and exterior changes, comfort and advanced engineering abounds to help make the Mercedes SL-Class is even more luxurious.

The SL 350 and SL 500 have additional equipment worth £6,625, including the AMG sports package for both the interior and exterior, electric glass sunroof, and active park assist.

The package also includes five-spoke alloy wheel and grey brake calipers with ‘Mercedes-Benz’ lettering. There’s also AMG bodystyling for side skirts and aprons.

Drivers will also notice the lowered sports suspension and improved damper settings and there’s an upgraded braking system on the Mercedes SL 350 which has perforated rear brake disks.

The cars’ interiors have also been given the AMG treatment with sports seats with perforated leather, seat side bolsters and head restraints plus a sports steering wheel with silver gear shift paddles.

The Mercedes SL 63 AMG, also gets an electric panoramic glass sunroof and the active park assist as additions to the standard equipment specifications, worth £1,500. There are no changes to the SL 65 AMG.

Available from June, buyers can expect to shell out £69,960 for the SL 350 AMG Sport, £79,970  for the SL 500 AMG Sport and £110,785 for the SL 63 AMG.

The Mercedes SL Class is an impressive car and with the AMG revamp they are stylish and have an improved driving experience – anyone thinking of buying the Mercedes SL Class should think about the leasing packages available as this might be the better (ie cheaper!) way for actually driving one.
