Mercedes SLS: Epic new SLS AMG line-up set for UK

The new UK line-up for the SLS AMG has been unveiled and there are two models – the new SLS AMG GT Coupe and the SLS AMG Black Series Coupe – which are boasting significantly enhanced specification and greater driving dynamics than ever before.

Mercedes SLS AMG The Mercedes SLS AMG

The Mercedes SLS AMG GT replaces the current SLS AMG Coupe and Roadster and it has enhanced standard specification and dynamic upgrades.

The Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series marks the fifth incarnation of the popular model from Mercedes-AMG and is the fastest and most powerful production vehicle ever from the brand.

The new Mercedes SLS AMG GT sees power increase to 591 hp (that’s an extra 20 hp over the standard SLS AMG), and redeveloped AMG Ride Control Performance suspension which brings greater agility.

The naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V8 AMG engine reaches 62 mph from a standing start in just 3.7 seconds, before achieving a top speed of 199 mph. The Mercedes SLS AMG GT returns a combined 21.4 mpg, with CO2 emissions of 308 g/km.

It also has significantly enhanced standard specification inside and on the outside, the GT is set apart from other models thanks to its 19 inch front and 20 inch rear AMG alloy wheels in either a five or 10 twin-spoke design.

The car also has AMG carbon-fibre exterior mirrors, high-gloss black trim, red brake callipers, darkened headlamps and rear lights with a black surround.

Joining the Mercedes SLS AMG GT in the new super sports car line up is the SLS AMG Black Series; a vehicle inspired by the SLS AMG GT3 racing car.

The 6.3-litre V8 AMG engine generates a staggering 631 hp and 635 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds.

Helping the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series to achieve these figures is its lightweight construction, reducing the kerb weight to 1,625 kg (70 kg less than the SLS AMG).

There’s also the AMG Ride Control Performance suspension, AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system, wider flared wings, a new AMG titanium sports exhaust system, and the electronically controlled AMG rear-axle differential lock further boosts the driving dynamics of the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series.

The new SLS AMG model line up is available to order now with the SLS AMG GT Coupe costing from £165,030 OTR and the SLS AMG Black Series Coupe from £229,985 OTR.

It goes without saying that there could be major cost savings in terms of leasing the Mercedes SLS AMG GT Coupe, so check out prices before buying one.
