The new Citroen C4 Picasso has been unveiled and it is the first of their cars created for the EMP2 platform.

It’s not only lighter than its predecessor, the Citroen C4 Picasso also has a bold contemporary design with ‘loft-style interior’.  Whilst the exterior design hasn’t changed too much there is more glass to help the cabin feel roomier.

I say more glass – the panoramic windscreen and large glass roof bathe the cabin in light and have a combined glazed area of 5.3m2.

There’s also a large amount of interior space and the car has the biggest boot in its class at 537 litres.

The Citroen C4 Picasso is also the first compact MPV with engine CO2 emissions of sub-100g/km at just 98g/km and it’s the first Citroen with BlueHDi 150 Euro 6 diesel engine.

The Citroen C4 Picasso will be launched summer 2013 and have full-digital dual screen driving interface, which is a 7” touchpad and 12” panoramic HD screen as well as 360 VISION, which is unique in this segment.

There’s also Park Assist for convenient manoeuvring and parking.

Citroen C4 Picasso drivers will also have cruise control, active seatbelts and automatic high-beam headlights (the switch off when it senses an on-coming car).

The new EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) for the Citroen C4 Picasso will be used on more models, including the new Peugeot 308.

The new platforms means there less of a overhang, a lower floor and wider tracks.

The new Citroen C4 Picasso 2013 will be available in a range of eight colours from Shark Grey, Aluminium, Hickory Brown and Obsidien Black to radiant Ruby Red, Teles Blue and Kyanos Blue. A range of alloy wheel designs are also available in three sizes – 16”, 17” and 18”.

Inside the Citroen C4 Picasso there’s an exclusive Lounge Pack available which means travelling becomes a first class experience with front massage seats, a ‘Relax’ seat that lets the front passenger stretch out their legs and a Relax headrest on all seats for comforting neck support.

The Citroen C4 Picasso also has key less entry and start-up, motorised tailgate and reversing camera among the many interesting innovations.

Alongside the 6-speed manual gearbox, the Citroen C4 Picasso has a new 6-speed clutchless gearbox available as well. Known as the ETG6 (6-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox) it delivers improved performance and can be integrated into the e-HDi 90 and e-HDi 115 engines.
