This all-new model is also lighter than the model it replaces to deliver lower emissions of 120g/km, while fuel consumption for the range is around 54 mpg.

There’s a higher specification as standard so drivers get painted alloy wheels, smartphone connectivity, LED projector headlamps and safety features include traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitor.
The model also features rear and front parking sensors, heated front seats, automatic air-conditioning and keyless entry and start.
The all-wheel drive system is available as an option for both grades, as is the six-speed automatic gearbox.
S-Cross Ultra offers polished alloy wheels
While there are just two trims to choose from, the S-Cross Ultra offers polished alloy wheels, integrated satnav, leather upholstery, a panoramic sliding sunroof and a 360° view camera.
The S-Cross model is built in Europe and goes on sale this month and the price and equipment levels compare favourably with pricier marques and rivals.
